Wodafone - Discover Who Called
Wodafone is a reverse phone lookup tool using cutting edge technology that we hope can help thousands of people across the UK to identify who called them and to know whether the person calling is genuine or if they are being scammed. We also try to make as much useful and relevant information available to our users as possible so they can learn to spot scam calls in future.
Below you will find the latest phone number reports that have been added to our database. We would be very grateful if you would also share your experiences with any numbers that have called you. By doing so you may potentially prevent someone else out there from being scammed. Just search for the number and, once redirected, leave a comment.
We also have some videos that you might find interesting. They demonstrate some of the more common scam techniques that are being used right now.
How to stay safe on the phone?
In general, the reason scam callers operate is to try to steal money from hard working people like you and I. Most commonly they will do this by persuading people to give them their bank and/or credit card information, under the guise of another organisation or official body. Some of the more frequent examples of organisations impersonated by scammers include HMRC, banks, internet service providers, energy companies and insurance companies.
Another possibility is that a caller may tell you that you need to make a payment to them over the phone. We would strongly advise against ever making payments over the phone unless you initiated the call and took the number directly from the organisations website. Below you can find some more tips for staying safe on the phone.
Do's and don'ts when taking a call
- Do report malicious numbers that you believe belong to scammers.
- Do not give your bank and/or credit card information to anyone that calls you
- Do not make payments to anyone that calls you over the phone, regardless of how insistent they are. If you think there is a chance they are legitimately the company they claim to be, you should still refuse, and call back on a number taken from their official website.
- Government bodies, agencies and forces do not call people and threaten them with arrest or demand payment. If you ever receive such a call, do not go along with what they tell you. Rest assured it is a scam and end the call immediately.
- The vast majority of automated calls you receive will be from scammers. It is usually best not to respond to them unless you know for sure it is legitimate. If the automated message ends by asking you to 'press 1', do not do so, instead you should hang up.
- Do not follow links contained in text messages that you receive out of nowhere, especially if they are saying you must update your payment details, or something similar.
